Princess Hwahyeop
2020
What did our ancestors use for makeup? A few years ago, a set of beauty products was found in the tomb of Princess Hwahyup, the seventh daughter of King Yeongjo of Chosun. The materials from several hundred years ago remain in the blue and white porcelain containers. The documentary follows the attempt to recreate the product and traces back the root of K-beauty. It also analyzes Chosun's makeup style, which looked for simplicity and focused on augmenting natural beauty. Finally, the show will compare Korea, China, and Japan's makeup styles, which reflects the distinct features of each country's culture and history.
